FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions:
Is all care virtual? Currently, yes. We hope to be accessible to as many families as possible throughout Michigan.
How often are sessions? Session frequency can vary based on your needs and availability. Weekly sessions, particularly in the beginning of treatment, are common. We recognize the importance of flexibility with session frequency over time, and as needs change.
Can I choose my clinician? You are welcome to request a particular clinician. We will do our best to accommodate based on your schedule and our availability. New clients with no preference will be assigned a clinician based on their scheduling preferences.
Does it matter what type of diabetes I have? It does not! We have extensive experience with type 1 diabetes (T1D), type 2 diabetes (T2D), MODY, Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes (CFRD), and pancreatogenic diabetes.
Is therapy confidential? Yes! Therapy sessions are entirely confidential, with two exceptions: if you are in danger of hurting yourself or others. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency please call 9-1-1 and/or go to your nearest emergency room.
Do I need to specify if I want resource navigation help as part of my service? No, resource navigation is part of every initial intake and new diagnosis consultation.
Will you attend school meetings in person? If local (Southeast MI) this may be possible depending on clinician availability. A travel fee will be assessed.
Do I need a referral? No. We do not directly partner with insurance companies at this time, so you can skip this step!
What happens if I need to cancel? We request at least 24 hours notice for cancellations in order to avoid being charged a late cancel fee of $100. The easiest way to cancel is to contact your specific therapist via e-mail or phone to inform them of your cancellation.
Please reach out to us on our contact page if you have questions or would like further information!
